A Place to Dwell
by Ray Istre, copyright, 1997. Email ray@rayistre.com ~ www.louisianalyric.com

I woke up this morning

that ole' hound dog began to whail

and I slowly began to wonder

what the hell am I doing in in jail

Sister Mary won't you tell me

I've always wondered, why the "hail"

Brother Jesus, you know all about it

steal my sins and throw my bail

(chorus)

I shut my eyes to control

a rolling renegade tear

facing the wall and covered

in a wet blanket of fear

when suddenly I focus

on a voice to sweet and clear

Calling my name

whispering the same

devoid of shame

I turn to you, only you

When I laid my eyes on you

and my jail was shot to hell

I took your soul

how it becomes you

and I made a place to dwell
